Rescued 2 12 months outdated lab – assist, please!

First time ever posting though I ceaselessly observe posts. I’m a lifelong animal lover and rescuer. I’ve had Labradors my whole life. I simply want some encouragement as I sit right here in tears, scripting this.

We rescued a 2 12 months outdated Labrador (male, neutered) lower than every week in the past. We’re his seventh and FINAL dwelling. We’re 1,000,000 p.c dedicated to this lovely soul.
He’s had some coaching and is aware of a number of instructions. (We don’t know his full historical past, however undecided if he’s ever “lived” in a house earlier than us.) He stays tethered to me on a slip leash as he learns that sure issues are off-limits (counter browsing, and so on.) I’m EXTREMELY constant in expectations, instructions, observe/by way of, and so on. He is getting train and psychological enrichment toys. And, he got here to us from the rescue on meds, which undoubtedly helps. We’re working with an authorized, superb coach, too. We’re engaged on crate coaching.

He’s a lover and cuddle bug. And, unbelievably SMART. Im simply unbelievably overwhelmed. I don’t know the best way to clarify it precisely…it appears like I’m “on” 24/7. I feel he’s bonding with me – needs to sleep close to me, contact me along with his paw, and so on., once I’m sitting down.

I’ve simply by no means doubted my coaching or talents like I’m now. Admittedly, I’m sleep disadvantaged. It looks like we make progress, then take 10 steps again. I really feel as if he challenges me a lot bodily and mentally as a result of he’s soooooo sensible. (My different labs have been/are sensible, however this man is one thing else and I imply that in a really variety, loving means.)
